Chuckwagon Days 2006
Big Piney, July 1, 3-4, 2006
July 5, 2006

Big Piney Chuckwagon Days are always held over the 4th of July weekend. The celebration lasts several days and includes an early morning walk/run, parade, free BBQ cookout, a Lil' Buckaroo Rodeo for youngsters up to age 13, two days with WRA-IMPRA rodeo, a street dance, and fireworks on July 4th.

Darrell Copeland was the Grand Marshal for this year's Chuckwagon Days parade.

The parade is held down Budd Avenue in Big Piney on the morning of the 4th of July. The free BBQ cookout is held at the Sublette County Fairgrounds just north of Marbleton and is by free-will donation and includes a feast of roast beef, baked beans, potato salad and drinks. This is a great time for socializing with old friends and catching up on news.

Usually a lot of Big Piney High School alumni show up for this weekend, and some reunion activities may be scheduled.

The Lil' Buckaroo Rodeo for the kids includes stick-horse barrel racing, goat-tail trying, calf roping, calf riding, mutton bustin' and mini bulls. EnCana USA sponsored the Lil' Buckaroo Rodeo again this year. Admission was free for spectators.

The adult rodeos were held at the rodeo grounds at the Fairgrounds on July 3rd and 4th. Events included rough stock bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc. Other events included team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and junior barrels.

In-between events, rodeo clown Scooter Culbertson entertained the crowd. There was a calf scramble for the kids to win $10 for grabbing one of the ribbons on a calf's tail. Later, there was a bull scramble, with eleven participants braving the arena to grab a ribbon off the bull's horns to win the prize of $400. No one won the bull scramble on Monday, so the money was pooled into the second day of the rodeo.

Matt Bombard was the rodeo announcer. The Chuckwagon Days Rodeo was the highest paying rodeo in the Mountain West over the 4th of July.
