The Green River Rondy Sled Dog Race was held over New Year’s weekend in the Upper Green, north of Pinedale. The event brought mushers and teams from eight states to compete in the 6-dog and 12-dog races. Mushers raced on both Saturday and Sunday, with the final combined time determining the winner for the $6,000 purse. The 6-dog teams raced a 14-mile course and the 12-dog teams raced a 28-mile course. As a unique aspect of this sled dog race, mushers wore local rancher’s brands on their race bibs instead of the traditional numbers.

The race start and finish were located out of the snowmobile parking lot at the Bridger-Teton National Forest boundary at the end of Cora Highway 352 along the Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail.

Wendy Davis, of Lander, Wyoming, won the 12-dog race with a final overall time of 4:00:06. Dave Turner, of Sandy, Oregon, won the 6-dog race with an overall time of 2:19:12. Local Barrie Raper of Pinedale took 2nd place in the 12-dog race. Kathy MacKay of Daniel placed 2nd in the 6-dog race.

Major sponsor for the race was BP America. Additional sponsors were Bottoms Up Brewery, Lodge at Pinedale, Mountain Ridge, Adanac Sleds, Gardner Distributing and Faler's General Store.
