White Pine Torchlight Parade Dec. 31
December 22, 2005

White Pine Ski Area will be hosting their annual New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade on Saturday, December 31st. White Pine is located just 10 miles from Pinedale, in the Wind River Mountain Range.

Skiers, bring in the New Year with a night ski by torchlight. Ride the lift to the top and ski parade down the wintery slopes with lighted flares. Must be an intermediate or better skier, able to ski without poles to hold the flare. Lift loads at 5:00 pm (free). Flares will be provided. The flares may produce burning sparks, so wear clothes with that in mind.

After the ski, there will be a chili dinner waiting at the lodge (chili, cornbread and soft drinks for $6). For more information about the parade, contact White Pine Ski Area at 307-367-6606, www.whitepineski.com.

White Pine currently has all lifts running and 22 of 25 trails open. Trails are 30% advanced, 45% intermediate and 25% beginner. Vertical drop is 1,100 feet, from 9,500 feet to 8,400 feet. Great Spirit runs open are Warbonnet through Wind River. Little Spirit runs are Porcupine through Coyote. The ski area reports 29” base depth on powder and packed powder. Lifts run daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Ski and snowboard rentals are available at the ski area.

White Pine also has 35+K of free cross-country ski trails accessible right from the lodge. 9K of the trails are groomed for classic and skating lanes.

Note that White Pine will be closed on Christmas day, Sunday, December 25th, so that employees can spend the holiday with their families. The resort will be open both Saturday, December 24th and Monday, December 26th, and daily throughout the ski season.
