Commencement for the Pinedale High School Class of 2005 were held on Friday, May 27th in the Wrangler Gym. There were 38 graduating seniors in the class. Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal gave the commencement address.
Valedictorian for the Class of 2005 was Casey Dean. Gracy Huntley was Salutatorian. Eli Mrak was Senior Class President. Diplomas were awarded by Sublette County School Board No. 1 Chairman Jim Malkowski. The other school board members all in attendance, along with the Governor and School Superintendent Dr. Charles Grove and Pinedale High School Principal Richard Kennedy.
Nine seniors graduated as members of the National Honor Society. Twenty-seven seniors received scholarships. According to Principal Kennedy, more than $276,000 was awarded just in community-sponsored scholarships.
The class colors were Black, silver and green. Class flower was Bird of Paradise. Class saying by Buddha, "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." The Class Song was "Time" by Pink Floyd.
Governor Freudenthal congratulated the seniors and encouraged them to have a plan for the future, but not be afraid to veer from it if a great opportunity comes there way. He told them to value their friends and be ready for the inevitable changes that come in life. He said donít be afraid of failure. "Not succeeding at everything you tried to do doesnít mean that you are a failure. Just get up and do it again" Freudenthal said. "You are the brightest, greatest hope. You are the best kids to turn the world over to."
