Matilda, The Musical opens Oct. 23rd

Pinedale Theatre Company is presenting Matilda, the Musical in the Sheppard Auditorium at Pinedale High School starting Thursday, October 23rd, through Saturday, October 25th. Matilda, the Musical is the eighth musical Pinedale Theatre Company has undertaken and it is by far the biggest production the Company has cast. There are 41 local students and adults in the play and an additional 15 musicians in the orchestra.
Mila Bennett stars as Matilda, Agatha Trunchbull is played by Judy Wigginton, Miss Honey is played by Natylie Evans, Kendall Horrocks is Mr. Wormwood, and Gracie Parsons is Mrs. Wormwood.
Mark Hennessy has returned to Pinedale to direct the show, his fifth for the company. Previously, he directed Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma!, Oliver and Beauty and the Beast.
The show is based on Roald Dahl’s story, Matilda. The book/screenplay was written by Dennis Kelly, and the music and lyrics were written by Tim Minchin.
Matilda the Musical, is the story of an extraordinary little girl with a vivid imagination, a sharp mind, and a sense of justice, with a few telekinetic powers. Matilda Wormwood is born into a family that doesn’t appreciate her and sends her to a school ruled by the fearsome headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Despite the odds, Matilda remains kind and clever, finding justice with her classmates and friendship with her gentle teacher, Miss Honey.
Tickets are available at Office Outlet in Pinedale and Big Piney, The Cowboy Shop, Nested West, and online at Pinedale Theatre Company, https://pinedaletheatre.com/. They are $25 for adults and $10 for children/students age 5 through high school. The evening shows start at 7 pm. The matinee on Saturday starts at 2 pm.
Funding for this production is provided by the Wyoming Arts Council, The National Endowment for the Arts, the Wyoming Legislature, The Wyoming Community Foundation, Sublette BOCES, Sublette County Recreation Board, Foundation 23 and local individuals and businesses.
