The Sublette County Centennial celebrations ended with their final event on Friday evening, July 26th during the 2024 Sublette County Fair, with the dedication of the Centennial Mural at the County Fairgrounds north of Marbleton.
Local artist McKenzi Davison was one of three artists who put in submissions for the mural on the side of one of the buildings at the Fairgrounds.
The goal was to depict images which represent Sublette County values. Her mural includes the words "Sublette, Est. 1923," a hitched team of draft horses, a mountain man, a rodeo cowboy, a historic oil drill rig, a covered wagon, a Hereford cow, Indian Paintbrush flower, and the Wind River Mountain skyline.
The final mural design was selected by the Sublette County Commissioners, who wanted a local artist to do the mural.
The Sublette County Centennial celebrations have been going on for three years, patterning the length of time the process originally took for the County seat to be voted on, to finally seating the first set of Commissioners and County officials.
