Funeral Service for Rodney Hamilton June 10 in Big Piney

Rodney Calvin Hamilton, age 72, of Big Piney, Wyoming, returned home to his Father in Heaven June, 5th, 2024. Taking wih him the heart and soul of our family. Surrounded by his wife and kids sharing tender moments and stories of their life together. Before being welcomed home by his son Chain Hamilton, and his parents Calvin and Lola Hamilton.

His time on Earth was filled with many honored titles including; husband to Marilyn for 55 years, a father of 9 children, a son, a brother, a grandpa, a boss, and finally a best friend to so many. His legacy will be carried on through his wife Marilyn, his children Michelle Green, Cody Hamilton, Curt (Tami) Hamilton, Cole (Marsha) Hamilton, Misty (Grady) Taylor, Chain Hamilton, Caleb (Alicia) Hamilton, Mindy Mitchell (Reese) Jenson, Christopher Hamilton (Callie) Whinnery. His 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

He was born August 27, 1951 to Calvin Alonzo Hamilton and Lola Araminna Beal in Price, Utah. He held a noble place in his family as the first born son of 5 children. He was a natural at taking on a protective role for his sisters and younger brother. Their family moved to Duchesne when he was a young boy. From a young age Rodney was a hard worker with the passion to provide for his family.

Rodney met the love of his life and soul mate Marilyn McKowen and married in 1969. Their 55 years of unconditional love shared countless life experiences they endured together with unwavering support for one another. He always included his loving wife in everything. She was always and will forever be the most important part of his life.

Along side his partner and wife, they raised an amazing hard-working family. His family was always of the utmost importance. The incredible lessons that he taught all of his kids will forever be cherished. He always looked out for others and helped with anything he could. He was extremely generous, almost to a fault. He was a very loving man and adopted others as his own.

He loved the mountains and spent a lot of time with his family outdoors. He was a modern mountain man, avid hunter, skilled guide, and trapper. He could track almost anything from bears, mountain lions, to kids.

He had a passion for many things and was a jack of all trades. Excelling in heavy equipment operating, painting cars, carpentry, cooking, logging, hunting, sewing, and many other hidden talents. He had a thirst for knowledge and was always reading. He was wise beyond his years. Being the stable confident and voice of reason for so many.

Thank you dad, grandpa, and friend for all of the love and the amazing example.

A funeral service will be held Monday June 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the Big Piney L.D.S. Church. A viewing will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Plainview Cemetery.
