D.A.R. announces Davey Jackson Chapter 2024 History Essay contest award recipients

Three Pinedale Middle School 8th grade students have been awarded essay contest honors by the Davey Jackson Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.).
The American History Essay Contest (AHEC) competition (for students in grades 5 to 8), comprised of specific rules including but not limited to essay length, topic, historical accuracy, grammar and originality. This year's AHEC topic was: "The Stars and Stripes Forever." Essays must focus on how a reporter during that time would cover the life of John Phillip Sousa and the song he created.
Aylen Mills placed first and was awarded $100, a bronze medal and a certificate for her essay. Aylen’s essay will advance to the state level against ten other DAR chapters within Wyoming. The Wyoming state winner will then advance to the National level.
Naomi Gaffney took first place in the State Level "Excellence in American History" state award. Naomi was awarded $75, a bronze medal and a book. Paxton Loveday took 2nd place and was awarded $50, a bronze medal and a book.
American History Participation Certificates were awarded to Jesus Angeles, Teagan Flidey, Oakley Francis, Hannah Green, Taggert Harber, Jocei Helm, Bailey Henn, London Jensen, Broden Joswiak, Taivyn Odom and Jackson Streeter.
Mr. Beau Youtz, Social Studies Teacher at Pinedale Middle School, is recognized for his support for this essay contest.
The Davey Jackson Chapter is very proud of the accomplishments of all these students.
