The ceremonial start of the 29th annual Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race kicked off on Friday, January 26th in downtown Jackson, Wyoming. The "Stage Stop" race is the premier event of sled dog sports and draws top competitors from across North America and Europe.
The Pedigree Stage Stop Race consists of seven individual stages. The race travels through seven mountain ranges of western Wyoming and Idaho on National Forest lands trails. Teams cover 30 to 35 miles per day on out-and-back courses. The Pedigree Stage Stop Race is the premier stage format sled dog race in North America.
Mushers compete for a cash purse of $165,000 and the title of Stage Stop Champion. Fifteen teams are entered in the 2024 Stage Stop Race, including teams from the U.S., Canada, Germany, and France.
Stage One commences Saturday, January 27th at 9:00 a.m. at the Black Rocks trailhead of the Bridger Teton National Forest near Moran Junction in Jackson Hole Wyoming. The daily race schedule is as follows: * January 27 – Stage One – Teton County, Wyoming * January 28 – Stage Two – Lander, Wyoming * January 29 – Stage Three – Pinedale, Wyoming (Upper Green) * January 30 – Stage Four – Big Piney / Marbleton, Wyoming (RELOCATED TO THE UPPER GREEN) * January 31 – Stage Five – Kemmerer, Wyoming * February 1 – Travel Day * February 2 – Stage Six – Alpine, Wyoming * February 3 – Stage Seven & Final Banquet – Driggs, Idaho
