Sandhill cranes, bluebirds and robins reported by Dawn Ballou, Editor, Pinedale Online! Original post March 22, 2022 | Updated March 29, 2022 We always love hearing reports of when our spring wildlife return to the Upper Green River Valley. Buckrail.com in Jackson posted a story reporting a bluebird sighting in Yellowstone as of March 20th. We haven’t had a report or picture sent in of one seen here around Pinedale yet. Also waiting to hear about seeing or hearing sandhill cranes, red-winged blackbirds, robins, meadowlarks and hummingbirds. Large raptors soon to arrive include osprey and red-tailed hawks. The pronghorn and mule deer have already started to move up the valley as snow melts and grass starts to green up. In the next couple of weeks, we’ll start seeing baby animals. Buds are starting to swell on bushes and trees and eventually we’ll see some green leaves. We will still likely get some late spring snow storms over the next couple of weeks that could drop inches of snow, but will melt quickly. Days are longer and Spring is definitely trying to start to be on the way. Please send sighting reports and pictures to support@pinedaleonline.com. |
