Buffalo Jump Pony Club seeks new members
September 27, 2019
Pony Club is a youth equestrian organization designed to teach members about riding and the care of horses through mounted sports. The local Buffalo Jump Pony Club, based out of Boulder, Wyoming, is looking for some new members. Their focus is on English riding style. The Club focuses on English riding in order to learn classical position and seat and also to compete in dressage and jumping events. The Club is seeking new members to join. Any youth age eight or older can join and there is a "Horsemasters" program for adults. No experience is necessary and your horse doesn’t have to be a "pony" to participate.
The Club meets weekly during riding months and monthly during the winter. Participants take lessons together, ride on their own, travel and compete at sponsored rallies and open equestrian events. They compete in dressage, stadium jumping and cross country. They also spend a lot of time on basic horsemanship, riding form, training, conditioning and horse care. Riders learn the correct form for English riding, strength and balance. They spend a lot of time on teaching nutrition, housing, tack, trailering, hoof care and safety, and knowledgeable horse care. In addition, youth participants learn community service, sportsmanship and healthy competition.
