Free health screenings offered at Health Expo June 28

Did you know that a simple blood pressure check can tell you a lot about your health? If you don’t have a regular source of healthcare or you haven’t had had your annual reading of your blood pressure, you’re not alone. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, nearly 26 percent of men in the United States do not have a regular source of healthcare to complete medical tests and screenings to keep you healthy. The local community wants to help reverse this trend by raising awareness this Wednesday’s Men’s Health and Safety Expo.
Presented by Partners - Sublette County Rural Health Care District, Wyoming Cancer Resource Services, Southwest Counseling, Proactive Rehabilitation, and Sublette County Public Health, the health and safety expo will feature medical advice from RHCD medical providers, a safety presentation from Tip Top Search and Rescue, and important health education from more than 15 informational booths to increase awareness of available resources and services that can enhance the health, safety and wellness for the men of Sublette County. Appointments are not necessary and the FREE screenings are available on a first-come, first-serve basis from 5 - 8:00 p.m.
"The screenings we're providing will let you know if you're on the right track with your health and wellness," said Stephanie Lund, Nurse Manager of Sublette County Public Health. "We're happy to be able to offer free blood pressure and diabetes screenings during the Men's Health and Safety Expo."
Men attendees will also be able to tour Wyoming Cancer Resource Service’s interactive display to learn the importance of Colon FIT Testing to look for colon cancer in men who have no symptoms. RHCD team members will be taking blood oxygen screenings and talking to men about Life Flight membership plans in the unforeseen case of an emergency. Proactive Rehabilitation will be on hand to measure grip strength and share back health tips while Southwest Counseling will visit one-on-one with men on the signs and symptoms of stress.
The Sponsors – Pinedale Properties, Great Outdoor Shop, Dr. David Kapperman, Castle Rock Pinedale, and Bucky’s Outdoors will be present during the health expo to present one lucky winner of one of five terrific grand prizes; a Redington Vapen Red Fly Rod, a car detail or 4 free oil changes, a full day fly fishing float trip, and a Stihl battery powered trimmer. Free 307-Q smoked pork sandwiches and coleslaw for men and their guests will be available along with a chance to win over $2,000 in grand prizes and giveaways.
