The Wyoming Department of Agriculture is currently accepting public comment on regulations for compensation of livestock losses due to wolf depredations in the state's predator zone. The Wyoming Legislature allocated $60,000 for the compensation program through June 2018, and these regulations develop the structure for providing the compensation.
To be eligible for compensation, livestock depredations must be documented as outlined in the rules. The regulations also outline the allocation of funding in the event that claims exceed funding for a given time period such that available funds will be distributed amongst all claims after personnel fees have been deducted. For details, check the link below.
The Wyoming Game & Fish Department has a compensation program for damages to livestock by wolves within the trophy game region of the state.
Written comments on the rule must be submitted by 5 p.m. on September 1, and should be addressed to: Wyoming Department of Agriculture, Attention: Kent Drake, 2219 Carey Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82002.
