Five moose and six deer were spotted during a walk-though of the Lander Trail-New Fork River Crossing Historical Park on Saturday (Nov. 7). All the trees have lost their leaves now getting ready for winter, but days are still nice and there are no mosquitoes. The park is located on the southern end of Paradise Road along the New Fork River. In the mid-1800s it was a major river crossing and campsite for emigrants going to Oregon and California along the Lander Trail. The park is managed by the Sublette County Historical Society and offers over 100 acres to explore along the river bottom. A one-mile walking trail winds through the site and has nine interpretive signs. Fishermen are welcome to cast a line in the river, but no hunting is allowed. The park will be kept open until the snow flies. More info
