The Daniel Community Center held their annual Old Timer’s Picnic on Sunday, July 19th. The picnic was held at the historic Daniel Schoolhouse. The annual event is a community social gathering and chance to enjoy a potluck lunch, hear live music jam session by local musicians, and see old friends again and meet new friends.
This year’s festivities included a presentation by the local CLG Historic Preservation Board to present a National Register plaque. The Daniel Schoolhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places about 25 years ago, but never got a plaque to place on the building. Clint Gilchrist, President of the Sublette County Historic Preservation Board (CLG), made the presentation of the plaque to Rollie Sparrowe, President of the Daniel Community Center. Afterwards, historian Jonita Sommers gave a presentation about the history of the schoolhouse.
