Bob and Karen Rule encountered a snow slide on US 191 in Hoback Canyon on Saturday afternoon. The southbound lane was totally blocked. The northbound lane was passable by going around the extreme east edge of the road. Wyoming Department of Transportation had not yet responded to the scene, so traffic was one-way through the slide area until crews could get the slide cleared out. Avalanches are not uncommon across the roads in the canyon areas. Travelers should use caution when traveling through these areas in the winter and check with the WYDOT www.wyoroad.info website for updates on road conditions.
