Pinedale Elementary School fifth graders Zoe Noble and Colton Taylor got the honors of cutting the "ribbon" to open the new school. In celebration of the area ranching heritage, a rope was used instead of a ribbon.

Brands on the beams
Brands of local area ranches were burned into beams in the school. Three final "brands" were added during the Grand Opening ceremony. ("PES", "S" and "L" for the school and Design-Build Team)

Rivers and Streams
The entry hallway into each pod is designed with an ecological theme. Each pod is color-schemed towards this theme. The 2nd & 3rd grade pod is themed after Rivers and Streams.

Sublette County School District #1 was proud to present the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Pinedale Elementary School on Thursday, September 2nd. A large crowd of people gathered for the ceremony and to tour the school.
The construction took approximately 14 months to complete. Architects were Sandstrom Associates Architecture. Construction was done by Layton Construction Company. The new building is located in the Bloomfield subdivision on the west end of Pinedale, accessed from Ehman Lane. The building houses Kindergarten through 5th grades. School starts on Tuesday, September 7th. Approximately 500 students will be attending this year.
The ceremony included comments by Jay Harnack, Superintendent; Curtis Livingston, Senior Project Manager for Sandstrom Associates Architecture; John Alley, Vice President of Layton Construction Company; Jamison Ziegler, Vice Chairman of Sublette County School District #1 Board of Trustees; and Pinedale Elementary School Principal Greg Legerski.
Pinedale High School Education Student Blaine Mathews did the final branding on the entry-way beams. Three new brands were added to the many other local ranch brands. "S" for Sandstrom Associates Architecture, "L" for Layton Construction Company, and "PES" for Pinedale Elementary School.

Interesting Facts about the Project: - This is the first Design/Build school for the state of Wyoming - 81,000 square feet, largest elementary school in Wyoming - LEED Silver Construction - Logs harvested from beetle-kill forests - As an educational tool, the design incorporates ecosystems of the area - Design derived from the ranching heritage of the area. - The school has 31 classrooms - 3,244 cubic yards of concrete were poured for the structure - 20,000 square feet of stone work in the structure - The first concrete was poured on July 3, 2009 - The first steel column was set on August 13, 2009. - Building closed in on November 3, 2009 - Building substantial completion July 30, 2010 - Turnover of site and school on August 31, 2010 - Total Cost $23 million - Layton/Sandstrom Design Build Team
