Charmian McLellan of Boulder was selected Grand Wyoming Artist by the Wyoming Artists' Association at its state convention which was held in Cody the weekend of April 23, 2010. This honor is given to members who are stalwart supporters of WAA and who strive to promote art in their respective communities. Charmian has been an active member of WAA for 21 years and has held all offices in the organization. As president, she hosted the state convention in Pinedale in 1997. She is also a member of Mixed Media artists and Sublette County Artists' Guild. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in commercial art. Then she and her husband, Jim, a career Air Force officer, lived throughout the United States from Alaska to Alabama and in Germany and Denmark until Jim retired and they returned to Wyoming to build their home at Boulder Lake Ranch. Charmian participates in painting workshops each year and has received instruction from Greg McHuron, Kathy Wipfler, Ralph Oberg, Jeanne Mackenzie, and Skip Whitcomb. Some of her favorite artists include Tucker Smith, Clyde Aspevig, Harley Brown, and Scott Christensen, as well as the French and Russian Impressionists. She loves her home and its access to the Bridger Wilderness where she and Jim reside with their two horses and one cat.
