Q. “I have a nonresident friend that wants to hunt doe antelope this year. Is it better to apply in the drawing or wait until the season to get licenses?
A. For best chances to get licenses, he should apply now. For the past number of years, doe antelope and deer licenses have been issued in drawings. You may still find doe licenses available in some areas once the season starts, but in recent years more and more of these licenses are issued in the drawing and often times, areas with good public access do not have leftovers. To improve your chances, it is a wise move to apply for these licenses in the initial drawing. The nonresident deadline for antelope is March 15. The resident application period is the month of May.
