Eagle Prospect Public Meeting April 18
Exploratory Oil & Gas well near Bondurant
April 8, 2007
The U.S. Forest Service will hold two open house public meetings for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Eagle Prospect Exploratory Wells project in mid-April, one in Jackson and the other the following day in Pinedale.
The proposed well drilling project is located on National Forest land about 7 miles southeast of Bondurant, north of Pinedale. The exploratory drilling proposal by Plains Exploration & Production Company (PXP) would evaluate oil and gas resources and production potential of the Eagle Prospect with up to three wells.
Forest Service and PXP representatives will be available at the meetings to present information about the project, explain the DEIS and answer questions. Two open houses are scheduled as follows:
April 17: Jackson, Pioneer Room at the Virginian Lodge, 750 West Broadway, 4:00-7:00 pm
April 18: Pinedale, Pinedale Library, 155 S Tyler, 4:00-7:00 pm.
The public is invited to attend, ask questions and pick up information. Written public comment will be accepted at the meeting.
The DEIS documents the environmental effects of the proposed project and a reasonable range of alternatives. The Forest Service is asking for public comment by Monday, April 30, 2007, on the DEIS. Send written comments to Greg Clark, District Ranger, Big Piney Ranger District, PO Box 218, Big Piney, WY 83113. For more information, contact Ranger Clark at the Big Piney Ranger District office at 307-276-3375 or Teresa Trulock at the Pinedale Ranger District Office at 307-367-4326.
