For those following the saga of Jose, New York’s Bronx River resident beaver, a recent article in The New Yorker (online) reports that he was spotted recently and appears alive and well.

Apparently high water from winter storms submerged Jose’s beaver lodge about a month ago and no one had seen him since. An employee from the nearby Bronx Zoo teamed up with a man from the Wildlife Conservation Society to check things out recently and spotted Jose swimming in the river.
