Quick Cat Nap


During the "rut" the bull elk basically doesn't sleep. His concern is his ladies and other bulls. So, his complete attention is devoted to protecting his turf. A short cat nap is common, before the bull is up again and on the prowl looking for interlopers or stray cows. Taken at Mammoth Hot Springs, in the parade ground.
