The Sandhill Crane Mating Ritual is a fascinating event to watch. I was fortunate to see it in action on Thursday, May 26, 2011 late afternoon. This entire sequence took place in two minutes. There are three cycles of dance in these images. The birds began literally in the borrow ditch along the highway and moved away from the highway in very boggy and wet snowmelting ground. The sun was reflecting off the wet ground which makes the images appear the way they do. It was a wonderful experience./djb
