Moose #1 Over Fence
I had the good fortune to watch these two moose move through the neighborhood on Friday morning, March 4, about 7:30AM. Even with snow as shallow as 12" and as deep as their chest, they move effortlessly through the snowy fields. I recorded an average depth of 26" at my house on Friday. Depths ranged from 12" to 41" around the property. Drifts were deeper. March 1 is generally the high-water mark for snow depth in our country. We get plenty of snow in March, but a combination of longer days, higher sun angle, settling and a few warmer days begins to knock it down. We'll see how this snowy year plays out!/djb
