Five Aspen And Chief Mountain


While exploring Chief Mountain I came across these five aspen, isolated and living almost within a golden wheat field. It was almost an unusual experience as the sun was setting and these five aspen were guarding Chief Mountain. Maybe its Indian lore as Chief Mountain was a very sacred place for Flathead and Blackfeet Indians. First ascent was made in 1892 by Henry L. Stimson, eventually Secretary of War for F.D. Roosevelt!
